    Desert Mob 2024 Exhibition Opens Thursday 5 September 5PM at the Araluen Arts Centre Galleries Live online Exhibition opens Friday 6 September, from 9AM (ACST) The Desert Mob 2024 Exhibition showcases over 30 Art Centres and is an invitation to view hundreds of works by artists who are members of Aboriginal-governed community art centres across Central Australia. Exhibiting alongside emerging and mid-career artists, many of the senior artists are veterans of the event, with established international profiles. Join the artists for the official opening of the Desert Mob 2024 exhibition and the exclusive opportunity to acquire works prior to the exhibition going live online from 9am, Friday 6 September (all times ACST).     Desert Mob 2024 brings together hundreds of artists to celebrate desert culture in the heart of Australia. One of the nation’s oldest Aboriginal art festivals, Desert Mob features an exhibition, symposium, and marketplace, as well as public programs and satellite events throughout Mparntwe / Alice Springs and the region. From the opening night celebration to community studio visits and Desert Mob After Dark, art workshops and musical performances, Desert Mob is a cultural event for all the community. Experience the unique program of cultural events that is Desert Mob during September and October - presented by Desart at the Araluen Arts Centre in Mparntwe / Alice Springs. Desart is the peak arts body for Central Australian Aboriginal art centres and its programs support art centres on the principles of ‘culture first’ and industry best practice.     Desert Mob 2024 Marketplace Saturday 7 September 10AM - 2PM The Desert Mob Marketplace is a large buzzing art market, bringing together paintings, punu, ceramics, weaving, sculpture, textiles and merchandise from Aboriginal-owned art centres across Central Australia. The marketplace offers Desert Mob attendees the opportunity to acquire works directly from the artists who created them. The day includes demonstrations, workshops, performances and other activations across the precinct, along with food and coffee.     Desert Festival is back again this September, for a vibrant weekend celebrating place, community, and creativity. Dive into desert stories through live music, dance, theatre, immersive experiences, light installations, workshops, and engaging panel events, and sink into the lush bush surrounds of Olive Pink Botanic Gardens. Taking place from 27th – 29th September, the theme of the 2024 program is alternate realties and shifting perspectives, focusing on immersive experiences and opportunities for play that assist audiences to immerse themselves into stories from the heart of Australia.     The ASMG is Australia’s longest running Masters Games event. The goal of the Games is to encourage participation in sport throughout life. Competition and camaraderie are equally celebrated. The games will showcase competition of a range of sports and sporting facilities and feature the much loved social program. Participants compete with no qualifying standards or times to enter. The only criterion for entry is a minimum age for each sport, which for the majority is 30 years of age.
