Online Acces­si­bil­i­ty Map

Alice Springs Town Coun­cil launched an online acces­si­bil­i­ty map in 2022. This acces­si­bil­i­ty map is eas­i­ly avail­able to the com­mu­ni­ty and shows access points and facil­i­ties as well as loca­tions of key ser­vices with­in the Alice Springs Municipality.

Access Pol­i­cy

Alice Springs Town Coun­cil strives to meet access needs in terms of pub­lic infra­struc­ture, trans­port, infor­ma­tion, com­mu­ni­ca­tion and atti­tudes irre­spec­tive of socioe­co­nom­ic sta­tus, cul­ture, gen­der, lan­guage or phys­i­cal or men­tal abil­i­ty of the mem­bers of the com­mu­ni­ty. May­oral Awards

The Alice Springs May­oral Awards are cel­e­brat­ed in line with the Inter­na­tion­al Day of Peo­ple with a Dis­abil­i­ty (IDP­wD) to high­light the con­tri­bu­tions made by indi­vid­u­als with dis­abil­i­ty and by indi­vid­u­als for dis­abil­i­ty com­mu­ni­ties. All Abil­i­ties Gym Class

What: Designed for peo­ple with a dis­abil­i­ty and their car­ers. Par­tic­i­pate in a fun and inclu­sive exer­cise class!

When: Mon­day & Fri­day at 12pm

Where: Health & Well­ness Cen­tre, ASALC, 10 Speed St

Library Ser­vices

The library pro­vides a home ser­vice for those unable to come to the library on a reg­u­lar basis due to phys­i­cal frailty, infir­mi­ty or dis­abil­i­ty. More infor­ma­tion can be found on the Library Ser­vices page.

Alice Springs Aquat­ics and Leisure Centre

The Alice Springs Aquat­ic and Leisure Cen­tre offers:

  • A heat­ed indoor 8 lane 25 metre pool.
  • 20 metre pool with beach entry, dis­abled ramp access, indoor spa/​lazy riv­er and a 4 lane learn-to-swim section.
  • Out­door 50 metre swim­ming lap pool.
  • Hoist and wheel chair pool access for the indoor pools.
  • Med­ical oxy­gen is avail­able on premises.

Bus Ser­vice Information

Pub­lic trans­port bus­es have a low floor design and are fit­ted with ramps that accom­mo­date access for the stan­dard wheel­chairs and light weight mobil­i­ty aids. Alice Springs Bus timeta­bles can be found here.

Work in the Dis­abil­i­ty or Social Ser­vice Sec­tor? Join AllA­bil­i­ties Network!

Coun­cil has start­ed a net­work involv­ing organ­i­sa­tion rep­re­sen­ta­tives and indi­vid­u­als from the dis­abil­i­ty and social ser­vices sec­tors to cre­ate an oppor­tu­ni­ty for peo­ple to meet and share infor­ma­tion and expe­ri­ences. With a com­mon aim to build an inclu­sive town for every­body, AllA­bil­i­ties Net­work can be a chance for atten­dees to share their organisation’s new pro­gram and ini­tia­tives with like­mind­ed peo­ple. It is held quar­ter­ly at a dif­fer­ent local organ­i­sa­tion each time and fea­tures a small pre­sen­ta­tion from a guest speaker.
