Youth Programs
Programs that support, empower and elevate the young people of Alice Springs.
Alice Springs Town Council acknowledges the diverse skills, interests and needs of young people who live, work or study in our municipality. We know that young people enjoy opportunities to develop their skills, engage with and make positive contributions to their community and express themselves. Our Youth Programs wish to honour this in the way we design, plan and implement programs for young people. We enjoy delivering both regular annual and varied taster programs to support young people’s mixed interests which change, grow and develop as they do. Our programs are focused towards young people aged 12 to 25.
Our regular programs include the Phoney Film Festival, Youth Recycled Art Prize, and Youth Skate Workshops. What’s on can be seen below and register for a workshop here

💪🏼 Lift & Yarn — Young Men’s Wellbeing Program | Thursdays 5 – 6pm @ Alice Springs Aquatic & Leisure Centre
Lift & Yarn with us to improve your health and wellbeing! This free five-week wellbeing program is for young men aged 12+ years. The program includes 30-mins of physical exercise, and 30 mins of mental health education, a light feed and entry into the pool until close. This program runs 2 November — 30 November. Supported by the Northern Territory Government.
🖌️ Arts & Craft Workshops — Paint, Print and Dye Clothing and Fabrics | Wednesday 4 – 6pm @ Central Craft, Araluen Cultural Precinct
Harness your creative flare by attending our creative art making workshop series. This free 6‑week Art & Craft program is held at Central Craft on Wednesdays from 4 – 6pm. A different art/craft theme each week suitable for young people aged 12 — 25. This program runs 25 October — 29 November. Workshops facilitated by Central Craft.
🛹 Youth Skate Workshops | Every Tuesday, 5 – 7pm
Are you a emerging rider? Join us to practice tricks and shred on skateboard, scooter or BMX! It’s all about learning new tricks in a safe and enjoyable environment. Snacks, water and music provided. Open to everyone, gender inclusive, with equipment to try provided.
This program is free and facilitated by local skaters & riders @ Skatepark 14 Speed Street. The Gap, NT, 0870

Tertiary Bursary Scholarship 2023 – 2024
The Alice Springs Town Council is committed to investing in the education of our young people to support better economic and social outcomes for Alice Springs residents.
Council strives to reduce financial barriers for young people in order to enable education access and participation.
Youth Education Bursary aims to encourage Alice Springs-based residents to continue to study by providing financial support.
Each year Council offers up to four, individual scholarships for young people between 16 – 25 to undertake further study at school, university or TAFE.
The Alice Springs Town Council will promote the Youth Education Bursary each year.
Council will allocate funds in the annual budget each year, the value of which will be divided equally into up to four (4) individual bursary amounts to be awarded per student.
Recipients will receive payment of the bursary following acceptance to a local school or Australian university or TAFE.
Nominees must:
- be aged 16 – 25 years;
- be a resident of Alice Springs;
- be currently studying or plans to undertake further study at an Australian University, TAFE or at an Alice Springs-based secondary school;
- meet the academic performance and financial need requirements.
- not be a recipient of another concurrent school grant.
Applications:
- open Thursday 14 September 2023 at 9.00 am
- close Wednesday 15 November 2023 at 5.00 pm
