Alice Springs Town Council is committed to supporting Alice Springs residents. We’re always thinking of new ways to connect, move and feel good. There’s something for everyone, any fitness level, any age — check out our ever-growing list of programs and find the perfect activity!
YOUTH PROGRAMS
You’ll also find an exciting range of youth-oriented fitness programs — we have regular skate sessions at the skate park, boxing fitness classes and school holiday sports and recreation activities. See what’s on this week!
ASALC GYM
You also can do your own fitness routine in the shaded Outdoor Gym at ASALC. With a shoulder press, cross trainer, arm bike, stationary bike, parallel bars, the options are endless! Keep an eye out for the workout of the week. Open during ASALC opening hours and cost of regular ASALC Entry fee.
Baby…Set…Go! - Specifically designed for new parents, these sessions provide physical and mental benefits as well as social support. Bring your baby!
Keep You Moving — Suitable for people with chronic health conditions, this class focuses on strength, balance, cardiovascular and flexibility. A referral from a GP or allied health professional is recommended. Contact Get Physical prior to your first class.
All Abilities - Designed for people with a disability and their carers. Participate in a fun and inclusive exercise class!
All in Aqua - A fun filled class targeting all over body fitness incorporating resistance and functional fitness training. Suitable for people of all ages with moderate to high fitness levels.
Warm Water Exercise - This class is targeted to those with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
Active Aqua — Get your heart pumping and build fitness with this class. Suitable for people of all ages with moderate to high fitness levels.
Heart Foundation Walk — This 45 – 60 minute, medium-paced walk is suitable for people (and dogs on leashes) of all ages and abilities. Leaves from the Andy McNeil Room, Alice Springs Town Council Civic Centre, 93 Todd Street with the exception of the last Saturday of the month.
Outdoor Gym @ ASALC — DIY fitness routine in the shaded Outdoor Gym with a shoulder press, cross trainer, arm bike, stationary bike, parallel bars and more.
Men’s Keep You Moving — This is an exercise session suitable for men of all ages and experience levels.

Sport & Recreation
Sporting and recreational groups benefit our local community by creating fun, varied opportunities to regularly engage people, from all walks of life, in social activity – and Alice Springs is a truly sports-loving town!
From extreme mountain-biking and trail-running, to book clubs and lawn bowls, Alice has much to offer those seeking to contribute to the community, improve their health and fitness, or expand their social network.
Alice Springs has an active Heart Foundation Walking Group which meet at Council’s Civic Centre each Saturday at 7am with an end of month walk occurring at a different location. This 45 – 60 minute, medium-paced walk is suitable for people (and dogs on leashes) of all ages and abilities. Check out our amazing line-up of free community classes every Saturday morning for all of May. Beginner friendly, kids are welcome and no registration required! Did we mention there will also be a free morning tea between classes!
