Your chance to guide the future of Alice Springs

Nominations are now open to fill the casual vacancy on the 14th Alice Springs Town Council.

Fol­low­ing the res­ig­na­tion of Coun­cil­lor Steve Brown ear­li­er in 2024, Coun­cil has the respon­si­bil­i­ty to fill this posi­tion via an appoint­ment process. Open to all eli­gi­ble res­i­dents of Alice Springs, com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers are encour­aged to sub­mit their nom­i­na­tions to become the ninth Coun­cil­lor and con­tribute to the gov­er­nance and future direc­tion of Alice Springs.

The 14th Alice Springs Town Coun­cil has set a real­ly excit­ing strate­gic direc­tion for the future of Alice Springs and it’s a great time to join us on that jour­ney,” May­or Matt Pater­son said. 

As a Coun­cil, we believe Alice Springs has a great deal of poten­tial. We’re work­ing well togeth­er to help us achieve that poten­tial and we’re look­ing for­ward to wel­com­ing a new mem­ber of our team. If you have a desire to help cre­ate con­nec­tions with­in our com­mu­ni­ty, I encour­age you to con­sid­er putting your name forward.”

To assist those inter­est­ed in nom­i­nat­ing, Coun­cil will host an infor­ma­tion ses­sion on Mon­day 23 Sep­tem­ber in the Alice Springs Town Coun­cil Func­tion Room. This ses­sion will pro­vide key insights into the nom­i­na­tion process, the role of a Coun­cil­lor and the respon­si­bil­i­ties involved.

Nom­i­na­tions will be open for 14 days and will close on Mon­day 30 Sep­tem­ber at 5pm. Once nom­i­na­tions close, Elect­ed Mem­bers will review all appli­cants and appoint a new Coun­cil­lor based on a com­pre­hen­sive selec­tion process.
