Your chance to guide the future of Alice Springs
Posted on 16 Sep, 2024
Nominations are now open to fill the casual vacancy on the 14th Alice Springs Town Council.
Following the resignation of Councillor Steve Brown earlier in 2024, Council has the responsibility to fill this position via an appointment process. Open to all eligible residents of Alice Springs, community members are encouraged to submit their nominations to become the ninth Councillor and contribute to the governance and future direction of Alice Springs.
“The 14th Alice Springs Town Council has set a really exciting strategic direction for the future of Alice Springs and it’s a great time to join us on that journey,” Mayor Matt Paterson said.
“As a Council, we believe Alice Springs has a great deal of potential. We’re working well together to help us achieve that potential and we’re looking forward to welcoming a new member of our team. If you have a desire to help create connections within our community, I encourage you to consider putting your name forward.”
To assist those interested in nominating, Council will host an information session on Monday 23 September in the Alice Springs Town Council Function Room. This session will provide key insights into the nomination process, the role of a Councillor and the responsibilities involved.
Nominations will be open for 14 days and will close on Monday 30 September at 5pm. Once nominations close, Elected Members will review all applicants and appoint a new Councillor based on a comprehensive selection process.
