Draft Municipal Plan open for consultation

Alice Springs Town Council is investing in the future of Alice Springs with the draft 2023/24 Municipal Plan now open for public consultation.

Coun­cil­lors vot­ed in favour of adopt­ing a draft Munic­i­pal Plan at May’s Ordi­nary Coun­cil Meet­ing with the Plan now mov­ing to a com­mu­ni­ty con­sul­ta­tion phase. Sig­nif­i­cant invest­ment in infra­struc­ture and ameni­ties across the com­mu­ni­ty high­light the draft Plan with Coun­cil aim­ing to improve the live­abil­i­ty of Alice Springs for all residents. 

The new Munic­i­pal Plan is the first that aligns with Council’s new Strate­gic Plan, Alice Springs Live­abil­i­ty & Sus­tain­abil­i­ty 2030, set­ting the course for a bet­ter and more vibrant Alice Springs community. 

Coun­cil has been hard at work improv­ing the live­abil­i­ty of Alice Springs and as this Munic­i­pal Plan will show, we have invest­ed in exact­ly that,” May­or Matt Pater­son said. Sig­nif­i­cant resources will be invest­ed into improv­ing the live­abil­i­ty for com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers with mul­ti­ple excit­ing projects on the hori­zon. This Plan shows that Coun­cil is plan­ning for both the short-and long-term improve­ment of Alice Springs.” 

The draft Munic­i­pal Plan will be avail­able to the pub­lic from today, Wednes­day 24 May here. Print­ed copies will also avail­able at the Civic Cen­tre Recep­tion, Alice Springs Pub­lic Library as well as the 50 Plus Com­mu­ni­ty Centre. 

Pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion clos­es on Fri­day 16 June with all mem­bers of the pub­lic invit­ed to sub­mit their feed­back. Feed­back must be addressed to the CEO and can be sub­mit­ted in writ­ten form at the Civic Cen­tre Recep­tion Desk or via email to astc@​astc.​nt.​gov.​au.
