Australian Ballet workshops at the Library

The Aus­tralian Bal­let is set to vis­it Alice Springs in June and will be host­ed by none oth­er than your Library!

Known for their ath­let­ic, authen­tic, bold and expan­sive style, Australia’s nation­al bal­let com­pa­ny is inter­na­tion­al­ly acclaimed and com­posed of the country’s most tal­ent­ed dancers. With a val­ue for open-mind­ed­ness, fresh think­ing, and pas­sion, the Aus­tralian Bal­let is sure to bring a grace­ful twist to Alice Springs through a series of free workshops.

On Thurs­day 8 June, the Aus­tralian Bal­let Edu­ca­tion and Out­reach team will deliv­er free dance work­shops to preschool aged chil­dren and seniors in Alice Springs!

The Dance Sto­ry’ work­shops for preschool aged chil­dren between 3 and 5 years will be tak­ing place from 10:00 – 10:45 am, 11:00 – 11:45 am, and 12:15 – 1:00 pm at the Library. These work­shops will give stu­dents the unique oppor­tu­ni­ty to explore The Sto­ry of Pomi and Gob­ba through dance and are designed to be acces­si­ble to all chil­dren regard­less of learn­ing styles or phys­i­cal abil­i­ties. No pre­vi­ous dance expe­ri­ence is required to enjoy these classes!

Fur­ther­more, the Dance for Seniors’ work­shop will begin from 2:00 pm at the Library and embody the grace and beau­ty of bal­let. This class will wel­come stu­dents into the bal­let fam­i­ly and encour­age phys­i­cal activ­i­ty, musi­cal­i­ty and expres­sion while pro­vid­ing the poten­tial for a vari­ety of health ben­e­fits. Designed to ensure there are options for every­one, regard­less of abil­i­ty or expe­ri­ence, the dance work­shop will cen­tre around the char­ac­ters and music of Romeo & Juliet and includes options for using a chair, the sup­port of a part­ner or mov­ing independently.

Fear not- no leo­tard or bal­let shoes are required! Sim­ply wear clothes that you are most com­fort­able mov­ing in.
