Nom­i­na­tions for the upcom­ing Local Gov­ern­ment Elec­tion have been announced by the NT Elec­toral Com­mis­sion.

Alice Springs res­i­dents will have a range of options for both the posi­tion of May­or and the eight Coun­cil­lor posi­tions when they head to the polls. 

10 nom­i­na­tions have been lodged for May­or, while 17 peo­ple will stand for Councillor. 

With the clo­sure of nom­i­na­tions, Alice Springs Town Coun­cil have now entered care­tak­er mode. 

Ear­ly vot­ing opens on Mon­day 16 August with res­i­dents able to cast their bal­lot in the Andy McNeill Room. Elec­tion Day will be on Sat­ur­day 28 August.
