Great northern clean up
Alice Springs Mayor,Damien Ryan, is calling on the public to lend a hand this Sunday for this year’s Clean Up Australia Day’s ‘Great Northern Clean Up’.
MayorDamien Ryanurged Centralian’s to get involved, “I’m hoping to get as many volunteers this year as possible, so get online to pre-register.”
Go to www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/Todd+River+ASTC or simply volunteer on the day.
Event details:-
When: Sunday 11 September 2011.
Where: Schwarz Crescent, meeting point outside St Philip’s College.
Time: from 8am
It’s recommended that appropriate shoes / clothing be worn and that participants bring their own bottled water and sunscreen.
“Plus this year I’ll be giving away T-shirts to the best volunteers, so go online now and sign up to help your community and environment!” Said MayorDamien Ryan.
Clean Up Australia Day has become the nation's largest community-based environmental event and is held annually in March. However the Great Northern Clean Up, held the weekend of September 9 -11, is just another way that Territorian’s can get involved in Clean Up Australia Day in their own backyards.
