Award winning Council Depot team
Alice Springs Town Council is proud to advise that Athol Mitchell won the Alice Springs NAIDOC Employee of the Year, announced at the weekends closing ceremony.
Athol was nominated by Scott Allen, Council’s Works Manager, for his consistently high quality of work and ongoing enthusiasm for the role after more then 24 years of service at Council.
“He’s expertise has gone into preparing Traeger Park for many events including the National Rugby League and Australian Football League matches, plus more the 50 Ford Ranger Cricket and Imparja Cup matches, with both players and officials commending Athol’s work.” said Scott Allen.
Athol Mitchell was humbled by his award saying “My goal is to present the best playing surface for all local and major events that are brought toAlice Springsand I’m honoured to accept this award for a role that I enjoy providing for our community.”
This accolade adds to the recent Chamber of Commerce NT Customer Service award won by Tony Boal, Council depot employee, who was the winner of the ‘Public Sector Individual’ award in May of this year.
“I’ve always known we had one of the most dedicated teams at the depot, but now we can say they are ‘award winning’ too!” said Mayor Ryan.
