The Henley on Todd is the only boat race of its kind in the world - it takes place in the dry Todd riverbed with entrants in bottomless boats running against other teams to be crowned winners in various categories. There is also the giant human hamster wheel race, the budgie smuggler run, tug-o-war and lolly treasure hunts. The day starts with a colourful parade of boats through the Alice Springs CBD and ends with the Battle of the Gunboats spectacular.
