CAWLS 2025 Work­shops | Iden­ti­fy­ing & Respond­ing to Fam­i­ly Vio­lence in Cen­tral Australia 

This essen­tial train­ing equips front­line work­ers in Cen­tral Aus­tralia with the knowl­edge and skills to iden­ti­fy and respond to clients or patients at risk of domes­tic, fam­i­ly and sex­u­al vio­lence, par­tic­u­lar­ly with­in health set­tings. Over a full day, par­tic­i­pants will explore foun­da­tion­al con­cepts, devel­op prac­ti­cal skills, and con­nect with local DFSV ser­vices. This sub­sidised train­ing ensures par­tic­i­pants leave equipped to pro­vide inte­grat­ed, trau­ma-informed sup­port to clients and patients at risk.

  • Deep­en under­stand­ing of the nature and dynam­ics of fam­i­ly vio­lence in the Cen­tral Australia
  • Under­stand­ing the role of uni­ver­sal ser­vices such as health, edu­ca­tion and social ser­vices in iden­ti­fy­ing and respond­ing to DFSV
  • Gain insight into approach­es to sup­port safe and trau­ma-informed dis­clo­sures Learn how to deliv­er trau­ma-informed sup­port tai­lored to client needs and circumstances
  • Devel­op con­fi­dence in safe­ty plan­ning and access­ing refer­ral pathways
  • Gain prac­ti­cal insights into legal respons­es, includ­ing manda­to­ry report­ing obligations
  • Build con­nec­tions with local ser­vices and spe­cial­ists to enhance cri­sis man­age­ment and prevention
