Alice Springs Town Coun­cil is com­mit­tee to fos­ter­ing an inclu­sive and wel­com­ing soci­ety, and engages with a range of cul­tur­al­ly and lin­guis­ti­cal­ly diverse com­mu­ni­ties to access Council’s facil­i­ties, grants and programs. 

Mul­ti­cul­tur­al Action Plan

Alice Springs Town Coun­cil is cur­rent­ly devel­op­ing a Mul­ti­cul­tur­al Action Plan to inform Council’s ini­tia­tives and best sup­port inclu­sion and par­tic­i­pa­tion of our diverse community.

The pur­pose of this sur­vey is to under­stand how Coun­cil can best sup­port its res­i­dents, par­tic­u­lar­ly peo­ple from cul­tur­al­ly and lin­guis­ti­cal­ly diverse (CALD) back­grounds. CALD refers here specif­i­cal­ly to peo­ple from migrant, refugee or oth­er inter­na­tion­al origins. 

Big Day Out In Harmony

Mul­ti­cul­tur­al Com­mu­ni­ty Ser­vices of Cen­tral Aus­tralia, in part­ner­ship with Alice Springs Town Coun­cil, runs a day-long cel­e­bra­tion of mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism each year. The event includes music, danc­ing, per­for­mances, food stalls and kids activities. 

Mul­ti­cul­tur­al Fit­ness Month

Mul­ti­cul­tur­al Fit­ness Month occurs annu­al­ly in March and show­cas­es phys­i­cal activity/​movement to exer­cise lead by facil­i­ta­tors from cul­tur­al­ly diverse back­grounds. The use of Coun­cil’s Parks and Ovals are the per­fect loca­tion to enjoy fun and fit­ness suit­able for all ages and abilities.

Cit­i­zen­ship Ceremonies

Alice Springs Town Coun­cil runs on aver­age four cit­i­zen­ship cer­e­monies per year, includ­ing one on Aus­tralia Day, and is part of a larg­er com­mu­ni­ty celebration. 

Alice Springs Pub­lic Library services 

The Alice Springs Pub­lic Library wel­comes peo­ple of all back­grounds, abil­i­ties, gen­der and ages. The library has reg­u­lar Spo­ken Eng­lish Meet-Ups (LINK), arts and crafts pro­grams, and oth­er oppor­tu­ni­ties to meet new peo­ple and learn new skills. 

The Mul­ti­cul­tur­al Com­mu­ni­ty Ser­vices of Cen­tral Aus­tralia pro­vides set­tle­ment assis­tance and gen­er­al sup­port to migrants and refugees in Alice Springs.
