Originally a response to the student climate strike and a shout out to Alice Spring’s community solar group “Repower Alice Springs”; the wall has since become an open-ended and evolving piece, inviting many young people to leave their mark, as well as local artists and the wider community, who keep the layers of colours coming. The mural was partially funded by ArtsNT in 2019, with support from Watch This Space ARI, Headspace, Anglicare and Congress youth engagement teams. As it currently stands, the above lines are representative of Aboriginal deaths in custody across Australia, with the more joyous juxtaposition; an ode to all the dogs we know and love in this town (with more to come). This wall has relied on creative contributions from friends and community support in time, expertise and donations from local businesses. Shout out to Home Timber and Hardware, Roustabout constructions, Tanglewood Designs, The Meeting Place Foundation and Proper Creative.
