The imagery was cho­sen to cam­ou­flage the trans­former, but also rep­re­sent how many indige­nous and non-indige­nous Aus­tralians find them­selves in Cen­tral Aus­tralia from oth­er states and ter­ri­to­ries and in try­ing to blend into their sur­round­ings are trans­formed in the process — by the envi­ron­ment and by the peo­ple of Alice Springs (Mparn­twe). The idea for the paint­ing came from Dan­ny Sgro and was exe­cut­ed by artist Hay­den Williams and youth from the Gap Youth and Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre. The mur­al was com­mis­sioned by Alice Springs Town Coun­cil for beau­ti­fy the Shana­han Park.
