The imagery was chosen to camouflage the transformer, but also represent how many indigenous and non-indigenous Australians find themselves in Central Australia from other states and territories and in trying to blend into their surroundings are transformed in the process — by the environment and by the people of Alice Springs (Mparntwe). The idea for the painting came from Danny Sgro and was executed by artist Hayden Williams and youth from the Gap Youth and Community Centre. The mural was commissioned by Alice Springs Town Council for beautify the Shanahan Park.
