From ‘rubies’ in Glenn Annie Gorge and alluvial gold at Arltunga to the first trig points on Trig Hill, Mt Gillen and Mt Johns, the eight benches help to paint a picture of earlier settler presence and the measuring and making of the town we know today. The benches were produced through a collaboration between the Centre for Appropriate Technology Ltd. and Elliat Rich to manufacture furniture that has a Central Australian heritage, aesthetic and provenance. This artwork was commissioned by Alice Springs Town Council.
