In line with public health advice and social distancing measures the Alice Springs Town Council has made a number of changes to our services. This page outlines any key changes to operating hours and points of contact during this time.

Council reminds the community that it is imperative to maintain physical distancing and hygiene principles whilst using Council facilities and in public places.
The Civic Centre reception is open for public enquiries as of Monday 11 May 2020 with some precautionary public health measures in place at reception. The community can also make contact via phone, email and via this website. Please note that payments can also be made online and over the phone during normal working hours.
Skate park, outdoor play and gym equipment are operational at Council parks – effective noon Friday 1 May 2020. Outdoor sports training (without physical contact) can re-commence as part of Stage 2 – 15 May 2020, with all sports and competitions (including spectators’ attendance) from Stage 3 – 5 June 2020

The Alice Springs Aquatic & Leisure Centre is open from Saturday 2 May 2020.
Winter hours for the Alice Springs Aquatic and Leisure Centre were due to commence from 1 May 2020, however some scheduled maintenance will have an effect on pool operations.
Due to scheduled repair works re-opening dates for each pool will vary, please see below:
- 50m outdoor pool: Open until 31 May, will be closed for repairs from June until early July
- 25m indoor lap pool: Will re-open from 12noon Friday 15 May
- Indoor leisure pool: Closed until June, re-open date to be announced
- Splash Pad: Closed

Regional Waste Management Facility
The Regional Waste Management Facility is an essential municipal service and, while some aspect of the facility may have to reduce in operations in the near future, the core waste area will remain as this is an important community facility. The transfer station is still open operating to the regular times of 8am to 4pm daily (Closed Good Friday).

Alice Springs Town Council would like to remind the community that the last quarterly rates payment due date 3 April 2020 has been extended to 30 June 2020. In addition to this the following measures have been put in place to assist the community:
Alice Springs Town Council is committed to assisting the community during this unprecedented time and would like to remind all ratepayers that there are provisions already in place for financial hardship for rates concessions. In addition, Council is currently working on a specific hardship application process for those financially impacted by COVID-19 and will provide more information soon. At a special meeting of the Alice Springs Town Council held on 26 March 2020, it was unanimously agreed that exceptional support measures be put in place for our local economy and the Alice Springs community.

Council Meeting Protocols in response to COVID-19
Effective from Friday 27 March 2020, all Council meetings will take place via teleconferencing and without attendees until further notice.
Meeting minutes will be loaded as soon as practicable following the meeting.
To further assist, if a community member has a specific topic of enquiry for a meeting, either arising from the papers or another question, they are encouraged to email email@example.com by COB the Friday prior to the relevant Council meeting the following week. These emails must be marked ‘Attention to the CEO’ to be raised at a Council meeting.
