Mayor takes strong stand on anti-social behaviour

Alice Springs Mayor has sought the direct assistance and reassurance of the NT Chief Minister after a night of vandalism and anti social behaviour.

“I’m infuriated by the anti-social behaviour on our streets last night and have addressed this issue with the Chief Minister.” said Mayor Ryan.

This spike in crime flies in the face of the excellent work done as part of the Christmas 2011 holiday initiatives by the Northern Territory Government, NT Police, Alice Springs Town Council and the local youth services.

“The Chief Minister has given me an undertaking that a Strike Force will be mobilised, bolstered by Darwin officers, along with high-profile policing in hot-spots and a crack down on know property offenders.” said Mayor Ryan.

“I want the community to know that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated and action is being taken.” said Mayor Ryan.
