Town Crier announced
The Alice Springs Town Council would like to announce the appointment of David Mortimer to the prestigious role of the Alice Springs Town Crier.
Mayor Damien Ryan said “We welcome David to the role and look forward to him putting his own character into this unique position.”
David is hoping to bring his own degree of sophistication to the role and is pleased to have the opportunity to promote the town that he loves.
“I see this as a very integral role in helping spread the community spirit and promoting our town, both to visitors and locals alike.” said David Mortimer.
“From the first moment I got off the plane more then 40 years ago, I feel in love withAliceand that’s never changed.”
A long standing local businessman, David has recently retired from a full time role to take on new challenges. He said “When I saw the job advertised I was intrigued and thought now that sounds like the challenge I’ve been looking for!”
David has lived inAliceSpringfor 40 years, raising a family and running a small business in town. He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Alice Springs and starts in the Town Crier role as of Monday 4 April 2011.
