Learn the art of darkroom photography from start to finish in this 4 week crash course. You will be introduced to each stage of darkroom practice: starting with the basics of point and shoot analogue photography; processing your own 35mm film by hand; through to developing silver gelatin prints in a darkroom and even hand-tinting your black and white image with coloured pigments. Currently an artist-in-residence at the Women's Museum of Australia, Georgie Mattingley has built a fully operating darkroom inside the cell blocks of the Alice Springs Old Gaol. Please note that these workshops will be hosted onsite the Alice Springs Old Gaol (currently the Women's Museum of Australia). Recommended for ages 16+ All materials will be supplied. It is recommended to wear old clothes (in case of staining) and to remove valuable rings and bracelets. This project was made possible through generous support from Alice Springs Town Council and Regional Arts Fund NT.
