Join us over three fun-filled days showcasing local innovation and stimulating ideas and action in the fields of science and sustainability in central Australia. For the past 12 years, the desertSMART Ecofair has been a vibrant showcase of science and sustainability in central Australia as part of National Science Week. The 2020 Ecofair, August 7-9, will be held in outside venues across Alice Springs including the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens, Alice Springs Community Garden and Desert Knowledge Precinct. This year's event will feature talks, a film night, mini-markets, in-person and online forums, garden workshops, music, kids entertainment and a science tour. Hear from leaders and innovators involved in driving local and national science and sustainability and learn about local climate solutions, the opportunities of the emerging hemp industry, bush medicine making, arid zone gardening and renewable energy. Attendees will have the chance to meet like-minded people and connect with local groups and organisations, bust buffel grass in Lhere Mparntwe and participate in walking tours of iconic Alice Springs locations. Given the unprecedented times with Covid restrictions, this year’s live talks and forums will also be going virtual. Watch this space for schedules for the live events and information about the online event registration over coming weeks.
