Healthy Communities Lift for Life!

 As part of the Federal Government’s Healthy Communities Initiative, Alice Springs Town Council is inviting you to take advantage of the FREE Lift for Life program. 

Lift for Life® is a strength based fitness program aimed at tackling chronic disease, especially type 2 diabetes. 

According to the Australian Diabetes Council, inAustralia, one person is diagnosed with diabetes every seven minutes.

“With the incidence of type 2 diabetes on the increase at such a rapid rate,  we want to offer a program to our community that would help prevent, manage, or even reverse this condition and some other chronic diseases,” says Healthy Communities Coordinator, Lucinda Coobs.

Alice SpringsTown Council are playing a vital role in improving the health of their community by offering this evidence based strength training program,” said Lauretta Stace, Chief Executive Officer of Fitness Australia.

Twelve local health professionals recently participated in the Lift for Life Training Course, including representatives from YMCA of Central Australia, Alice Springs Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic and Alice Springs Physical Rehab with Fitness.
