Police Dogs for Alice Commended

At the Council Committee meeting held on Monday 14 March, Elected Members put forward a recommendation that “the Alice Springs Town Council request the Northern Territory Government to provide a general duties dog within the police presence permanently in Alice Springs.”

Mayor Damien Ryan welcomed today’s announcement saying that “It’s great news to hear that the NT Police will have a general duties dog in Alice Springs.  This is a result of Council’s push on the issue.”

“I applauded the NT Government for moving swiftly towards implementing this initiative and am looking forward to this sort of quick response on other outcomes for Alice Springs.” said Mayor Ryan

“This is just the sort of direct action that our community needs right now.  Let’s keep the momentum going!” said Mayor Ryan
