BE PREPARED FOR BUSHFIRES

Alice Springs Town Council in collaboration Bushfires NTand the NT Fire & Rescue Service is reminding all residents to stay vigilant with fire preparation for their properties.

“With the spate of recent fires across the Municipality, it’s a timely reminder for all residents to clear their properties of flammable plants and materials, as well as maintaining fire breaks.”  Said Mayor Damien Ryan

“The NTFRS have carried out continual property inspections. There has been a marked improvement in fire breaks but there is more work to be done. The NTFRS in collaboration with Council Rangers are identifying these areas.” Said NTFRS Hazard Abatement Officer Adrian Sgarbossa

Council Rangers have been working with the community to help educate and enforce theAlice Springs(Flammable &C Plants) By-laws 1990. 

Council is urging residents to heed the warnings by removing grass, weeds or other growth that has accumulated due to an unprecedented rainfall this year as this built up growth may present a threat to life or property in the event of a fire.
