The CWA Alice Springs is a Branch of the Country Women’s Association of the NT. We are a Not For Profit organisation raising funds to support women and families within the Central Australian region. We do this by participating in various fundraising activities and community events throughout the year. We also hold cooking and craft workshops for members and guests to learn new skills and meet new people and hold Devonshire Tea once a month at The Residency, check our Facebook page for details.
Our monthly meetings are on the 1st Thursday of the month, 6.30pm at The Residency (next to the post office). All are welcome. Contact us by email or find us on Facebook for more info.
Operated by the Araluen Cultural Precinct in partnership with Heritage Alice Springs, The Residency holds significance for the people of Alice Springs as a tangible symbol of their brief legislative independence from the rest of the Northern Territory, housing the appointed Government Resident of Central Australia between 1927 and 1931.
When it operated as a residence, the building also provided a hub of social and cultural activities.
Now an historical house, The Residency features historical information and photographs about the Northern Territory and Central Australia, while also featuring regular art exhibitions and events.
The Residency is open from 10 am – 3pm on weekday.
