Rex Mooney – Chief Executive Officer

Rex grew up in Long Jetty on the New South Wales Central Coast.  After completing his Higher School Certificate he joined the Gosford City Council as a Junior Clerk.  He went on to complete his Town Clerk Certificate at age 21 and by the time he was 26 he became the then youngest Shire Clerk in NSW.  Since then Rex has always held the position of Town Clerk (now know as Chief Executive Officer) or equivalent across a variety of sized organisations in states including New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.  Rex is married to Janet with four children and in his spare time he enjoys catching up with family, church activities and playing guitar in a local 60’s cover band, “In Tatters”. Rex has been the CEO at Alice Springs Town Council since he started with the organisation in January 2003.

 

Greg Buxton - Director Technical Services

Greg has a trade background in bricklaying and building.  He worked for Woolworths Limited for over 20 years, with the last ten years as the Corporate Construction Manager.  He left Woolworths to start his own development management consultancy, mainly working for church and community groups.  He moved to Alice Springs to be closer to his grandchildren and was working on the Desert Knowledge Precinct at the time.  In his private life his interest is as a founding Director of the Yooralla Youth Ministries Australia, which is a registered overseas aid organisation and has included a trip to East Timor on a house building program.  Greg is a member of the Alice Springs Community Gardens Committee and is actively engaged in overseeing the largest capital budget undertaken by Council being the construction of the $16 million dollar Alice Springs Aquatic & Leisure Centre.

 

Craig Catchlove - Director Corporate and Community Services

Raised in Adelaide, Craig has a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from Melbourne University.  After three years in the military (RAAF Academy), he moved to Alice Springs in 1983.  Craig worked in tourism, spent a year travelling through Europe, returned to Alice Springs and continued in tourism, working in the position of General Manager of Tourism Central Australia (then CATIA) before joining the Alice Springs Town Council in 2007 as Director Corporate and Community Services. Craig has in the past decade: chaired the Alice Springs Economic Development Committee, Child Care Services of Central Australia and Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park Tourism Consultative Committee, been a member of the NT Area Consultative Committee, the NT Commercial Passenger Vehicle Board and many other committees dealing with the development of the region.
